Older version Nook trade-in credit? 3 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0
I don't suppose B&N gives any kind of trade-in/trade-up credit for an older version Nook (like 2 months old) to upgrade to a Nook color??? I'm upset that I just bought it and now the new one comes out. I would have been willing to pay more for the touch screen. I guess I can probably sell on E-Bay. Thoughts?

I am really disappointed to find out there is a new Nook and there is no trade in offered from B&N. I think I paid $249 for it last March. It came with 3g to begin with and was then taken away. It broke within the first 30 days and had to be sent back. Within 90 days the price drops to $150 in order to compete with the ipad, which now I wish I purchased it instead of the Nook. And now the nook comes out with a new device instead of upgrading the current devices to do the same thing. I doubt I will give B&N anymore of my money. Signed Hosed by B&N!

Gail, if you would have been willing to pay more than I'd sell it on ebay and pay the difference. You'll be out a few $ but you'll have the device you want. I'm not sure if you really want a touch screen or just like the appeal of it. If you are a core book reader the nook has clearer text than the nookcolor and the battery lasts a lot longer.

James, B&N like most other companies comes out with a new version every year and that's typical. I'm not sure why you think the 3G was "taken away", the wi-fi model became an option to get the nook cheaper for people that didn't want it. The price of the nook 3G on the B&N site is $199 right now - so I don't see how you can say the price dropped $150 - it's $50 less, not $150. They just came out with another upgrade to the nook to do many of the things the nookColor has like book sync, shelve organization, and more. Do you actually use the nook anymore?

Yes, I am a little disappointed that I spent 300.00 for the older version only for Barnes and Noble to come out with a newer version for 249.00 in less then a year. Very misleading at best. Of course they wouldn't give me a reimbursement/ trade in credit when I asked. My hubby warned me that I should wait before I bought one. He was right, I should have waited. Lesson learned..
From now on I will only be down-loading free content from Barnes and Noble. Hopefully if enough people complain they will offer a trade in credit.

If you paid $300 you were overcharged!!!! I paid $249 for mine last Feb. That was the highest B&N was charging for the classic nook.
I was a bit upset when they dropped the price for the 3G/wifi reader but I really wasn't surprised.
As far as the nook color edition, it's a totally different class of reader.
I don't understand people wanting a buy back if they want the nook color. Every tech manufacturer does upgrades to the hardware so this is no different. Just wait and I would not be surprised if in a years time another version of the nook was released.
I love my nook classic and to be honest if God forbid anything happened to it I am NOT sure I would go with a nook color to replace it. I would probably stick with the classic.
