TOPIC: What are you using to protect your Nook?

Re:What are you using to protect your Nook? 6 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
I'm about to make the leap into a Nook WiFi. As always I've done loads of research.
Here's what I'll be ordering for mine. For the book style cover I'll be buying black leather from boxwave.com. These covers get great reviews on Amazon and elsewhere and at $16 are much lower priced than B&N and others.

As to a screen protector I'll be buying from Nushield. I've used their protectors on my Palm TX, all my digital cameras and more for years. They are much easier to apply than regular vinyl adhesive protectors (as they don't use adhesive) and they last for a long time. I've had on on my Palm for 4 years. No bubbles. No scratches. No problems
They currently don't offer a pre-cut one for the Nook on their ebooks page but they do have one style on the custom orders page. Just click on the "Order Now by Manufacturer" button, with the red shopping cart on the left and scroll down to the manufacturer button and choose Barnes & Noble.
They only offer these in one type of film (anti glare). I talked with at someone in sales at Nushield and was told that the two piece set they offer for the Nook would not be as durable as the one for my palm. I believe that since I won't be using a stylus on either screen it should hold up fairly well. With all the hassles I've read about other protectors for the Nook I think that the $25 for the Nushield set will be worth it. I'll post again with my experience.

I have been looking for a case I really like. Durable, light weight, and versatile. I have long used a apple Newton messagepad as my PDA and one day I was looking at my Nook and Newton realizing they were the same size in all but thickness. I grabbed a Newtboot case (one of my all time favorites) and sure enough it fit perfectly.

While made sometime ago they are still available brand new at www.newtboot.com for $15 each. Quality made and you really can't beat the price. The strap is extremely handy when you go into a B&N store as your Nook stays out of the way yet right at your finger tips (there is also a hand strap on the spine as well). While there is a good description on the website I also took a few photos here: picasaweb.google.com/1101470080991968275...kNewtonCaseNewtBoot#

While there are a lot of cases out there, I have not found anything I like better. It also large enough to keep your charger and other electronics such as your phone, camera, etc.

I'm going to go with one of these: TrendyDigital Splash Proof Case with Padding for Nook Seems to be the best I've seen, and at a reasonable price. It'll be nice to have something a bit padded and water resistant.

I want something else... It is a little big for a belt carrier. A well designed fanny pack or holster would be nice. Has anyone seen something like that?

Maybe I just need to find a nice jacket with a nook pocket.

A "Medium Gadget Pouch" from Saddleback Leather.com. 100-year warranty, $41. No affiliation, but these things last forever.
