I use the Nook Easel so I can just leave it standing upright (too bad it doesn't have a remote so I can be lazy). You can get protective covers (vinyl with glossy or matte/satin finish) to protect the front AND back from decalgirl.com.

Be careful what you get. I just dropped mine today (had only since Sept) and was using the Lilly Pulitzer snakeskin cover (that opens like a book). Today at the gym I dropped it on the carpet, and it must have landed on the top right corner...and need I say more...it no longer works! The cover has the bottom protected corners but not the top (who would of thought). Unfortunately, I didn't buy the contract, so now I have to buy another. I'm just sick about it!!!

i went into b&n and bought a protective cover-thats like a book that flips open. I like it. It makes me feel like im holding an acutal book. The one i ended up with is a canvas/cloth type (i read for hours as well) and its very comfortable! i really like it and it was worth the money. I also saw (after i purchased my cover) ebay has some very well priced covers. FIY: i also bought the little light that clips to the top of the flip case/cover so when i read at night i wont wake up my husband! its a great little light-SO BRIGHT!!!

My wife gave me a Nook for Christmas and I love it. After looking at a lot of diffferent cases, I think I am going to go with the m-edge Lattitude cover because it zips closed and has a pocket for cord and Light storage (Lol its not a done deal yet and I am notorious for changing my mind at the last minute)

What I would really like is something to protect against spills, splashes, etc. I don't want to be able to throw the Nook in the pool or read while snorkeling, but we are heading to Mexico this spring and if someone walks past me and drips water or sand as they go by, I'd like a little bit of security. Plus, I am a bit of a klutz and it is just a matter of time before I knock something over while I'm reading.

I looked at the m-edge Leisure cover, but it goes a bit too far for me. What I'd really like is something that would give a bit of moisture protection and not add much bulk to the Nook, so I could still fit it into my cover. Does anyone have any suggestions?

When I went to Hawaii, I used a new ziplock baggie. It kept sand and water away. I was there for 10 days and we ended up with sand in our room and clothes (I have 2 kids and they helped take sand everywhere.) So I kept my nook in the bag the whole time.

Worked for me.

I've had my Nook for nearly a year, when I bought it I imediately got a screen protector, a skin AND a cover. At the time I got an Alice cover from B&N. I take my Nook everywhere, in my purse every day and it seems to be well protected. I had to change covers about 7 months along, due to the wear and tear showing. I now use a Adler cover, black with the ? and & and it is very nice.

I don't know if the skin did anything or not for the buttons, but unlike many who've posted with breakage issues, no cracks on my case or buttons.
