Rooted nook microSD card question 2 Years, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
Just wondering, I know a microSD card is required to perform the root, but after I've installed the modified 1.40 update and successfully rooted, can I remove the SD card or are system files stored on it? I just want to be able to use the card to root and then remove it (and put it back in my phone ^_^), not have it tied up in my nooky nooky.

*bump*

Wondering the same thing about needing to keep the microsd card in after a successful root. I haven't rooted yet, but I'm preparing to, and nothing I've read from nookdevs.com or other places that provide detailed rooting instructions say to either remove or keep the card in afterward.

It would seem to make sense that you would need to keep it in, since the Nook itself only has 2 gb of storage (which holds a ton of ebooks but gets taken up fast with other files like images & audio) and the purpose of rooting is to add more apps that take up more space.

Related to that, if I were to ever decide to upgrade to a larger microsd card, would I have to re-root the Nook or just transfer the extra files onto the new card?

You need to do this process every time you install and app but based on reading it you don't need it post root.

@John Royle, you said: "You need to do this process every time you install and app"

I'm guessing you meant to type "install AN app"? I'm not sure what you're saying. Do you mean you have to re-root the nook each time you install an app? That doesn't make sense. Maybe you meant to say every time you install a new microsd card?
