I'm trying to decide whether to root my NookColor or not based on how I use it, so I'd like to ask some questions of folks who have already rooted.

I'm mostly reading on it, both downloaded content and online content via Pulse and the Web browser. I read stuff with reviews and want to write down things to look for in the future. I've tried some of the note apps for the NC, but I have to keep going back and forth from the Web browser to the notepad; Springpad and Evernote aren't that useful to me because their Web clippers don't plug into the NC Web browser.

So, for folks who have rooted: can you have more than 1 app running? Can you have a notepad and a Web browser running?

Can you have a version of Firefox running, and can it have plug-ins like the Web clipper for Springpad or Evernote? The plug-in for LastPass?

Thanks for any info. I'm trying to decide between rooting my NC, or just getting a case for my Nook that includes a notepad and pen loop.

Look in the android market and see if there are apps you like for those features, if so rooting may be a good idea.

Firefox on mobile doesn't have all the same extensions (that I'm aware of) so that may not be a reason.

As far as task switching you can do it easy on the NC when rooted.

Reliable way to Root Nook Simple Touch
I recently dusted off the Nook Simple Touch and decided to try some of the root options, mostly to get the Kindle app working. I was amazed at the volume of YouTube videos and XDA Forum threads as well as root options
