That's funny my kids thought the screen on the nook was a sticker when I first got it!

I've actually not read my nook much in public, but have been showing it off like a good gadget guy. I'm sure the iPad will have a ton of appeal but I don't think people realize how nice eInk is, I forget it's not a book. An iPad would be popping up emails and tweets while I read - my nook is to go steal away and read!

That's it exactly. If I wanted to replace my netbook I would get a tablet but the nook isn't for that. It's not to connect, it's to escape. That's why I named mine The Fortress of Solitude. (yes, I'm a geek)

I am new to this site and the Nook world! I love this device. I have it sitting on my desk at work and several of my co-workers have asked about it. Even my wife likes it. She is not much of a reader but she has taken up reading more on my Nook. She keeps it up-I will have to buy her one!!!

I think that is what will keep the nook and Kindle very strong even with the iPad. For those of us that love books; we need to have something very close to a book. Reading on my nook really does feel like reading from a book, but on a more fun level you could say. I just couldn't get the same experience with the screen on the ipad.
