Hi everybody, and sorry that you have to read another topic of this kind. My choice was narrowed down on Nook, since my girlfriend will mostly read her own PDFs and use free books and lend books options fron B&N

I live in Serbia, Europe, and would like to buy Nook for my girlfriend. At the moment, I have a colleague in the US. So my questions are:

1) Can Nook be bought in the Barnes and Noble shop, on site? (so I don't have to bother colleague to order it on the hotel or company)
2) If that's possible, can I activate it via WiFi in Europe, if I have billing address of a person that lives in the US (one of my relatives lives on Florida)? Also, if that's possible, can I then download free books (of those 500k) and lend books even I am in Serbia? I've read that you have to use proxy on the PC to show as a US IP address and then download book to your PC and after that it can be downloaded on Nook. Is the situation the same with those free books and those books that can be lended?

If all of this isn't possible, I think I will go with Kindle (unfortunately)

Hi Highl1! I'm italian and I live in US, I red that outside the US you have big problems with the Nook. 1) I believe yes 2) I don't believe u can, reading in the FAQ you cannot.. If you can wait, I will be in Italy in December and I will check with my Nook and I will let you know. If you can't wait it's better for me don't buy the Nook.
