Stupid Bookmarks!!! 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 4
Ok, is it just me or are bookmarks on the nook PAINFUL. Seems to lose them and also seeing it always doesn't remember where I stopped reading. There are a few things it must do right, this is one of them. Anyone else?

Yep! I agree, something is wrong with those bookmarks. Tried to call BN tech support but after 15 min of wait-time, I hung up and shot them an email instead (still waiting for a response). Not sure if the "disappearing" bookmarks are due to the newly updated software and/or my shutting the device off overnight (to conserve battery life since we all know that their claim of 10 days is a bit too optimistic; I'm charging every 3-4 days). Apparently, other people are experiencing the same bookmark problem and waiting for BN to "fix" it.

One trick to prevent bookmark problems seems to be NOT to shut off your nook while you are reading an eBook. Instead, first exit the book by pressing the Home button - then put your nook into sleep mode.

True, I can leave my Nook in sleepmode but I still think this is something BN should fix. What's the point of using bookmarks if they may or may not stick, and is dependent on the user NEVER shutting their device off.

Jennie,

I could be wrong (even very wrong!) but I think the "workaround" for this crap software currently on the nook ( ) is to get out of the book before going into sleep mode or powering off. Probably the reader program isn't responding to the sleep or power down events properly, and exiting the book is something that causes it to save the bookmarks appropriately.

I suspect as long as you leave the book FIRST this might help, personally sleep mode is fine for me, I plug all my devices in at night to be charged. I suspect like a laptop the nook takes very little battery power in sleep mode.

Worth an experiment! Look forward to hearing from the bookmarker crowd if this helps.

I haven't powered my nook off at all, except when I needed to re-boot, but it still has lost my bookmarks a few times. I've even lost the bookmark after closing the book before putting it to sleep. I think it's just a glitch, and I feel better knowing I'm not the only one, so I guess I'll just wait for the next software update. For now, I'm setting bookmarks, but not trusting that it will definitely stay, so trying to also remember approximately where I left off.
