TOPIC: Replacement Parts for Nook?

Replacement Parts for Nook? 2 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
I am disappointed that it seems the only solution B&N tech support has is replacement of the entire nook. I have the cracked page forward button problem on the bezel and would be willing to buy a replacement bezel (at a reasonable price) since I'm out of warranty. Does anyone know of aftermarket parts that could be used for a nook? ...maybe a better engineered bezel that won't crack? I did have a battery problem while under warranty and it seemed a waste of time and expense to replace the entire unit as opposed to just sending a new battery. It appears B&N is not interested in selling parts if they can instead try to sell complete new units. Has anyone found other sources?

I purchased my nook over a year ago. The service department said I was two months past the end of my warranty. This meant that if I wanted my nook 'repaired' I would have to pay the full purchase price of a new unit to get a refurbished/used unit. I would think that offering replacement parts for a known defective design (based on the number of reports of cracked bezels) would be in the best interest of the company. Since they lack the skills to repair units and can only replace them, why not offer customers with reasonable skills the parts needed to attempt the repair on their own. If the customer breaks it in the process they may end up buying a new nook (or Kindle).

I would be very persistent that this is a known defect in the product and B&N should fix it regardless. I think that's pretty bad when they know all the early nooks had problems. Raise heck with them.

I ordered a replacement display for my Nook Color from PowerbookMedic. (It included the entire front assembly.) They are about the only place I could find parts for my Nook Color. I ordered online, had my new display within a few days and was back up and running in no time. I'd highly recommend them.
