TOPIC: Nook not turning on
#982
Nook not turning on 5 Years, 2 Months ago Karma: 0
I've had my Nook for a few weeks with no problems, however I just tried to turn it on and nothing happened. The screen flashes black twice then just a blank screen. I've tried removing the battery, plugging it back into my PC, powering it with AC (battery in and out). I've tried the briefly press the on button then when the screen flashes hold it down for 10 seconds and repeat four times. Still nothing.

Has anybody got any ideas please?

Thanks

Have you added memory to your nook (microSD)?
Was it running the latest 1.2 firmware? - stock from B&N (not rooted)?
The hardware sounds suspicious.

Hi

It was running 1.2, wasn't rooted and no SD card. It had been connected to the PC previously and then turned off. It was when I turned it on that the problem then occurred.

If it won't turn on then follow the "frozen nook" instructions in our FAQ. Basically take the battery out and start plugged into the computer. Let us know!

Tried that and still nothing. It doesn't appear to be the freezing problem that most people have. the screen flashes black twice when plugged into the PC as if its trying to come on. Then nothing.

Saw this on another forum. Seems like identical symptom: trigger factory fallback or nookdevs help
Unless that's your post?

Try power-cycling the nook several times to trigger the factory fallback (I believe it is 6 times, maybe 8?). Failing that, you can contact the guys at nookdevs, they've fixed bricked nooks for other people with similar problems as yours.
