TOPIC: What video's can I play on my NookColor

What video's can I play on my NookColor 6 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
I have some movies on my computer (.avi, mp4) and would like to play them on my NookColor. Will I be able to do that or will I be restricted to only playing videos that I purchase off of B&N?

You can do your own video on the nook, it supports mp4 format. Just copy them to the videos folder.

I don't think B&N even sells videos yet; don't give them any ideas!

Thanks.

In case anyone else has this problem, I copied an MP4 from my computer's my videos folder to the NookColor and got the message "cannot play video". I'd read about this on another message board but nobody had an answer. I kind of stumbled on the answer. I loaded the file into iTunes and then did a drag and drop to the video folder on the NookColor and it worked.

I don't have any idea why this was originally an issue or why dragging it from iTunes made a difference, but it did.

When you put a video in iTunes and export it you can be pretty sure to have a mp4 in a proper format/encoding that the Tab or iPhone will like. Your source video was probably in a format your computer understood due to codecs you had installed or something and iTunes "standardized" it for you (just my guess).

If you have DVDs the Handbrake tool works very well!

I found the solution. Use the file converter program WinFX free video file converter. Use the Android configurations in the Convert To drop down box.

I'm confused, why can't I just download VLC from the android market and play any video I want?
