Can't download ADE! 1 Year, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Followed instructions to download ADE directly on the nook. All the WiFi settings are working, I can browse fine, and purchase eBooks from B&N without any trouble. Now I want to borrow books from the library (using Overdrive), but I can't seem to get there from here ...

Opened web browser.
Went to www.adobe.com/products/digitaledition.
Click on "download now".
Takes me down the page to a window that says "requires adobe flash player".
Click on it - ends up downloading a file that it can't run.

How the heck am I supposed to get ADE onto the nook when I need an app that doesn't run on the nook?????

Any help is appreciated!!

The ADE app runs on your computer, not your nook. On the page it says, "The free download (Windows® and Mac OS) takes less than a minute to install over a broadband connection."

You might click on nook Resources above and watch the video tutorial

So I need a computer to download an ADE file onto my (WiFi) nook? What point is there in that?

Ask Adobe it works this way for all the ereaders out there. I suspect the device vendors don't do it on device because it would make it to easy not to buy from their ebooks. Non b&n books are 2nd class citizens on nook in many ways, you just found one of them. Still more "open" than kindle and as open as the others.

The tutorial is great . . . but it still doesn't answer the question: How do you authorize the Nook for the ADE. After days of searching, installing, re-downloading, etc. - and watching the tutorial 5 times - the question remains unanswered. My own conclusion is that ebooks downloaded from the library cannot be read on the Nook. I wish this had been noted in the Nooks advertisements and published material BEFORE I made the purchase for a Christmas gift.

Yes . . . but good luck if you ever get the book to open on your Nook. All you are likely to see is "user not authorized."
