I am connected to the internet through Wi-Fi but when I try to SHOP it searches forever and cannot connect. We try to search for a book and same thing it cannot find it. It was able to do this when we first purchased the NOOK but cannot anymore. Any suggestions?

Can you use the web browser on the nook and browse the B&N site? You have a wi-fi connection but it doesn't work properly. The shop is a program, and the easiest way to restart it is to restart the device, which I would recommend trying next.

Restarting the device solved the problem. I first tried your suggestion to go to the B&N site and was successful. So I figured it was a problem with the "SHOP" program as you suggested. Restarting the NOOK did it!! THANK YOU!!!

This sounds very similar to my issue. I have 2 Nooks (my wife and I). One is 3g-Wifi and the other is wifi only. Both units can browse the web, but neither unit can complete any transaction with the BN store while on wifi. The 3G service seems to work fine. The only wifi network that works is at a BN store. I have a VIZIO dual band N router that works fine for phones, laptops, netbooks, IPad's etc.
