TOPIC: Library book transfers to the Nook

Library book transfers to the Nook 5 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi, everyone:

Got myself a Nook for Christmas after thoroughly researching and deciding this was the one that best met my needs. One of the selling points was that I could transfer my library download Adobe EPUB books from my computer into the Nook. Yesterday I downloaded one from the library and copied it over to the Nook memory card (which I did not even realize I had to have until after I got the Nook!). The book is on the memory card, even displays the name of the book, but it is in an "unrecognized format" which cannot be opened. I went back and re-read the user manual and cannot figure out what I did wrong, or if there is something else I needed to do. I am sure someone has been through this particular learning curve, so please help!! Thanks in advance..

Incidentally, I did do a search to find an already-existing thread which addresses this issue, but did not find one, probably because I did not know the exact words to use in the search. This issue does not appear to be addressed, as least in a format I recognized as germane, in the FAQ.

1) you don't need a memory card, that is false. The nook has storage you can copy to.
2) You can't copy the books directly, you have to use the ADE tool, look at the Resources menu on this site for a tutorial on setting it up.

Also, be careful not to mistakenly checkout a Kindle book!! I did that once!!
The other guy is right. You NEED Adobe Digital Editions on your computer (downloadable from your library site, or whereever).
Copy the library book into ADE. Close ADE.
Then connect your Nook to your computer.
Reopen ADE.
Drag the book to where it says "Nook" on the left.
Eject the Nook & find the book in FIles (I find using the search tool makes it easier)

Not every Nook shows in Adobe Digital Editions -- the Nook HD does not. I'm online now trying to find out what to do.
